The car alternator needs 0.15hp for every 100 watts/8.4 amps your using from memory. if its that little bit harder to turn it has to use more fuel to turn it.

The difference would be very small. It’s impossible to prove it, because each trip is different because of the amount of times you accelerate, traffic lights, road grade, wind, pump shut off point, etc.
But theoretically, because lights consume electricity, that electricity has to be made by the alternator. Asking it to make it, makes it slightly harder to turn, and that costs gasoline.
What I’m saying is all perfectly reasonable and correct.

If you run a car on hydrogen+oxygen, you’ll need to split water into H2+O2 (with twice the H over O ratio of course), and that is done through an electrolyzer that runs on electricity. So the source of energy here is electricity, not water.
The notion of “running on” implies a source of energy. Water isn’t a source of energy at all.
In fact, water is the waste product, like the ashes in a fireplace. It’s what you have left over after you burn the hydrogen.

A higher output alternator is *capaple* of producing more Watts, but the moment you start drawing these higher Wattages, it becomes harder to turn and drive this alternator and you’ll have to spend more gasoline to produce the power for it.

That is fact and backed up by ANY battery/alternator repair/rebuild shop. Many engines can handle turning a higher output alternator…alternators that provide more electricity than the car was designed for.

Every load you put on an alternator will make the alternator that much harder to turn.
That energy has to be made by the gasoline engine. It does come for free, there is no “unused” or “excess” energy. It does not exist.

@a1mint So why couldn’t someone just rebuild their alternator? I could put a huge alternator in my pos acadian…and that would give a supreme amount of excess electricity to play with. The brushes would be more efficient thus resulting in extra amps that could be drawn from without disturbing engine spark at all. sure the alternator might be ever so slightly harder for the engine to turn…but not by much…not even worth measuring.

I was referring to the process of burning something. Burning hydrogen means that the hydrogen binds to oxygen, releasing heat and water. Water in this case is the product, the waste in this case.
