When you are shopping for jade, one of the best things to look for is rich color. Whether it is green or one of the other colors, the hue should be vibrant. If it seems dull, it probably isn’t very good jade. Also, if it has some transparency, allowing light to shine through at least at the edges, it is more likely to be a fine product.
To avoid being taken advantage of, go to a well known store or jeweler. They will be better able to detect minor defects in the stone. When considering the price of the stone, remember that if the price is very low it is probably not real jade.
