The reason why he didnt want to reunite with The cars because of Ben is no longer here with us. If he was here still, there would definately be of a reuniting The cars. I mean The New Cars would be a great band, but they need to produce brand new songs with a brand new album. They are killing the old songs. Thats what I can’t stand about them.

I met Ben Orr … I met Ben Orr during the Candy-O tour. He was an amazingly nice/ talented man with a beautiful voice. It was crushing when he died. But, I can’t think of ANYONE better than Todd and Kasim – to revive the Cars. Face it, we missed that band. As for his voice…Todd has perfect pitch – and once had the most beautiful voice in Rock / Pop. Just be glad that someone with his own fame / career respected the remaining Car’s musicians AND Fans enough to allow us to “Let the good times roll (again)”!
It’s understandable … It’s understandable that Greg Hawkes and Elliot Easton would want to perform and prosper from their past work (see Pink Floyd) but WTF is Rundgren doing?! That guy is an amazing artist and this was a misstep.

You certainly echo … You certainly echo the sentiments of a lot of us Cars fans. I truly just think the rest of the band wants to continue just having fun playing great music from time to time, that’s the best way they can satisfy their own desires and still compliment their old pal at the same time. The fans understandably play the critic, but it’s also best to keep in mind that Rock Stars have feelings too just like everyone else. Orr is more than just a pretty voice and great musician, he’s their close friend.
Of course, it’s … Of course, it’s fine to see Eliot and Hawkes still playing, and Rundgren seems to have surprising energy, but… but… nevertheless, it grieves my heart listening to that and understanding that Ben Orr is just irreplacable.
The problem is that … The problem is that it’s missing that calming balance of Orr and/or Ocasek to offset the rugged rock intensity. It could be great, with or without the ultra-talented Rundgren, but MUST also have that counter-weight keeping it all together. Otherwise, it lacks depth and dynamic, and, colour.
Only the likes of an Ocasek or Orr can provide that. Or, someone darn near close!
Great Rock & Roll … Great Rock & Roll but desperately needs Ocasek & Orr! This reminds me of the Oakland Raiders picking JMRussell with the 1st pick in the draft. Todd is talented and probably a great guy, but he is absolutely not a good fit here. Again, it’s like a football team hiring a Coach or acquiring a QB who just doesnt fit the squad and their team style of play. Orr is almost impossible to replace but i do know of one person who comes the absolute closest.

Plus Rundgren — come on, how could it be bad? Why shouldn’t great songs be covered if they can be played well? Nobody can replace Benjamin, but that’s not the point. This honors the original Cars and Ben’s memory.
