A great attraction in St. Kilda is the large Luna Park located along the foreshore. This offers fun rides of all kinds ranging from the Scenic rail, Ghost Train and Pharaoh’s Curse among others. The amusement park also has a number of games and fun activities and is naturally the children’s paradise. The St. Kilda pier which is also located on the beach is one of the most popular historical landmarks in Melbourne. It is famous for its iconic kiosk which was reconstructed in 2003 after being razed by fire. The breakwater is an important aspect of the pier partly because visitors get to walk on the breakwater as well as descend on the boardwalk. A number of penguins have since made a habitat on this rocky breakwater, which was originally formed to facilitate harboring for yachts during the 1956 Olympic Games. A visit to the beach must entail visiting the St. Kilda’s Sea Baths which feature a number of restaurants, bars, an award winning day spa and sea water pool. It also has a well equipped gymnasium and rooftop sun deck.
