How much, on average, did used cars cost in the early 1980s?

I mean all together. I know most say that cars vary too much to get an absolute answer, but even an average specific to a model would be fine. Or just what was your experience when shopping for a used car in the early 80s.

I am almost 43 now. Graduated from high school in 1984. Got a car junior or senior year. Used Buick Skylark. Very family car, very not cool. Great car. It was $3500 back then. I think it was 4 years old when I bought it. LOVED that car because it was my first and I had to pay for it on my own. My payments were $97.33 per month.
